Hasbro continued it's Harley Davidson motorcycle line in 2000 with this US Army
Motor MP featuring a nice Military Police motorcycle and rider
The motorcycle featured a movable gearshift lever, springer seat, active springer front end, working kickstand, working rear stand, left and right saddlebags, leg guards, windshield, and a black display base. The figure featured a standard classic collection body with a light green jacket, olive drab trousers, scarf, removable MP armband, .45 caliber pistol, web belt, boots with molded leggings, whistle, MP helmet with 1st division insignia, and dog tags. carded figures with the molded colored T-shirt. The Humvee was sold at all toy retail markets. Retail price was a whopping $99.99, but went as low as $49.99 during sales at Target.

Quand le US War Department demanda aux constructeurs américains de motos de
produire des engins militaires pour les besoins de la seconde guerre mondiale,
Harley Davidson et Indian répondirent à
l'appel.
Indian créa le Model 841 ...
... et en construisit plus de 1000 pour des tests qui n'aboutirent à
rien.
Au lieu des Indian's 500cc V-twin 741 ce sont les Harley-Davidson's 750cc V-twin WLA 45 qui s'imposèrent.

Back in the early 1940s, the US Army asked Harley-Davidson to design a
next-generation military motorcycle although the company was already producing
the WLA, based on its traditional 45-degree V-twin engine. The army ordered a
test batch of 1,000 XAs from Harley-Davidson. At the same time, the military
also asked Indian to make a 750cc shaft-drive twin, and it came up with a
90-degree V-twin design.
The idea was to put both new machines through their paces, and award a
lucrative military contract to the winner.
Eventually, the army finished its testing, and decided that neither new bike would be built. Instead, they bought several thousand more Harley WLAs. In the end, the military decided to hitch its hopes to a vehicle that could go through anything, didn’t tip over, and required very little training to operate — the Jeep.
Blame the Jeep. That’s why military motorcycles of any kind fell out of
favour during World War II.

MILITARY INDIAN n' HARLEY WLA

Plusieurs versions des WWII Motorcycles sont proposées par les
fabricants de maquettes.
Certaines d'entres elles donnent lieu à des réalisations particulèrement
réussies
Bon, je vous fais un aveux : celle-ci, je ne l'ai pas mais quand j'ai
trouvé cette photo sur le Net je n'ai pas résisté au plaisir de la mettre sur
mon site (même pas désolé !)
Et en plus au tout début, je me suis trompé, j'ai pris la moto sur la photo
pour une WLA (pas une WLC tout de même). Rien à voir avec la seconde photo de
la boite. Mais mon pote Bruno veille au grain ... m'a tout expliqué ... c't'une
Indian !!

SOLDIER FORCE SERIE IV, Collection "Véhicule de combat"
Ce jouet est un non-sens historique total : les forces spéciales de l'US Army n'ont jamais eu de Road King Harley Davidson side car "vert mili" avec une mitrailleuse (qui ne ressemble à rien) montée sur le panier ...
Mais bon, ne boudons pas notre plaisir : c'est bien un jouet et c'est bien une Harley. Donc sa place dans ma collec' est tout à fait justifiée !
Full plastic, naturellement "made in China", de l'ordre de 20€.

WLA MILITARY POLICE

Figurine plomb, peinte à la main (made in China une fois encore). Coût de l'ordre de 50€ chez Cow Boy Dreams. C'est l'une des pièces de ma collection que je préfère. 7x2x4.
